De Mexicaanse regisseur Guillermo Del Toro (Blade II, Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy) liet tegenover MTV weten dat hij voorbereidingen treft voor een heuse Frankenstein-verfilming, naar het boek uit 1831 van de Britse schrijfster Mary Shelley.

Del Toro: "The only way to do the Shelley novel is to actually do a four-hour miniseries. But I think there [are] permutations in which you can tell the myth in a different way. I started doing some notes before the strike. I can only draw now."
