Warner Bros, de IMAX Corporation en NASA hebben bekendgemaakt in 2008 opnieuw 3D IMAX camera's de ruimte in te sturen, dit keer voor een documentaire over de ruimtetelescoop Hubble. IMAX-films worden geprojecteerd vanaf een 70mm film in tegenstelling tot het gangbare 35mm-formaat, en met de 3D-toevoeging is het veruit de beste filmbelevenis die momenteel mogelijk is. De film wordt gemaakt door hetzelfde team achter Space Station 3D en moet begin 2010 verschijnen.

Regisseur Toni Myers: "The astronauts have often said The IMAX Experience is the next best thing to being in space, and with IMAX 3D, the audience really IS there. A decade ago we made a film that briefly touched on the subject of Hubble, but back then its first images were just coming in. Today, we have Hubble's entire phenomenal legacy of data to explore. With IMAX 3D, we can transport people to galaxies that are literally 13 billion light years away. Real star travel is here at last."
