Regisseur Peter Jackson kreeg al het een en ander te maken met Microsoft toen bekend werd dat hij de verfilming van hun populaire gamereeks Halo zou gaan produceren, maar bij die samenwerking blijft het niet. Net als Spielberg ziet Jackson de toekomst van games en films bijelkaar komen, en hij zet daarom samen met zijn vaste schrijfster Fran Walsh en Microsoft Game Studios een nieuw bedrijf op, Wingnut Interactive, waarmee hij in elk geval twee titels exclusief voor de Xbox 360 zal maken. Eerste wapenfeit van het bedrijf zal de ontwikkeling van de nieuwe Halo-game zijn.
