Naast de releasedatum van 1 augustus was er tot op heden nog weinig bekend over Marvels stripverfilming Guardians of the Galaxy. De studio noemde het eerder een “big space epic” en nu lijkt er een eerste korte synopsis te zijn opgedoken. De websites Production Weekly en It's On The Grid plaatsen onderstaand plot:

“A U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants.”

Ondanks dat het plot nog niet officieel is bevestigd, lijkt het erop dat de "U.S. pilot" het personage Peter Quill, beter bekend onder zijn naam Star-Lord, is of anders luistert naar de naam Vance Astrovik a.k.a. Vance Astro. De “futuristic ex-cons” zijn waarschijnlijk Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Groot en Rocket Raccoon.

Marvel Studios zoekt voorlopig nog naar een regisseur en een cast. Guardians of the Galaxy staat gepland voor 1 augustus 2014.
