Uit een recent interview van MTV met Toby Jones (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Finding Neverland) blijkt dat Dobby niet in het vijfde deel van de filmreeks, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, zal verschijnen. Jones spreekt al sinds het begin de stem in van de elf.

"I know that the filmmakers have a problem with each new film because the books are getting longer — there's so much to include in them", aldus Jones.

Het is nog raden hoe de filmmakers de afwezigheid van Dobby zullen oplossen, aangezien hij toch een belangrijke rol speelt voor het ontstaan van de ‘D.A.’. Kreacher, de huiself van Sirius Black’s familie zal wel in dit deel te zien zijn.
