De 3,5 uur durende misdaadfilm met grote namen als Oscarwinnaars Al Pacino, Joe Pesci en Robert De Niro laat het verhaal zien achter de moord van de criminele vakbondsleider Jimmy Hoffa, gespeeld door Pacino. Vooral zijn rol wordt bejubeld in de eerste reactie. Daarnaast wordt aangegeven dat de film bekeken moet worden op het witte doek.
Alleen op Netflix
Op het witte doek zullen slechts weinigen de film zien. In Nederland verschijnt de film namelijk niet in de grotere ketens Vue en Pathé. The Irishman debuteert op 27 november op het kleine scherm van Netflix.

The artifice of de-aging is more feature than bug.
It's not "slow." It often moves like lightening & elsewhere it's downright Bressonian.

THE IRISHMAN is good! takes 90 minutes to lock in & clear out the cobwebs / adjust to CGI, but the scope is a virtue, the performances are killer (Joseph! Frank! Pesci!) & it eventually coheres into a heart-stopping meditation on the myopia of time. an old man movie for the ages.
