Geen echt filmnieuws, maar toch noemenswaardig: Isaac Hayes stopt per direct met zijn deelname aan de televisieserie South Park. De zanger/acteur speelde acht seizoenen lang de rol van Chef, maar houdt het voor gezien omdat de serie volgens hem intolerant is jegens religies.

"There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins. Religious beliefs are sacred to people, and at all times should be respected and honored. As a civil rights activist of the past 40 years, I cannot support a show that disrespects those beliefs and practices."

De populaire serie schopt echter al vele jaren tegen elke religie, en dichter bij de waarheid is dan ook de uitleg dat Hayes het er niet mee eens was dat in de recente aflevering Trapped in the Closet de Scientology Church, waar hij aanhanger van is, aan de beurt was.
