De zegetocht van Ben Afflecks Argo wordt almaar langer en er lijkt geen einde aan te komen. Affleck won al de Golden Globes, Producers Guild Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards en nu heeft hij ook de Directors Guild Awards binnengehaald.
Gisteren werden tijdens het 65ste DGA Awards Dinner de winnaars van de prijzen aangekondigd. Regisseur, producent en acteur Kelsey Grammer mocht de ceremonie leiden en de voornaamste prijs aan Affleck geven. Het is de eerste nominatie die Affleck kreeg bij de DGA en die mocht hij dus ook meteen mee naar huis nemen.
Ook Alejandro González Iñárritu, die we kennen van de film Babel, kreeg een beeldje voor een reclamespotje dat hij regisseerde. Verder mocht Rian Johnson een beeldje meenemen voor zijn regie van de aflevering Fifty-One van de dramaserie Breaking Bad en kreeg ook Malik Bendjelloul een award voor zijn documentaire Searching for Sugar Man en werden er maar liefst vijf Lifetime Achievement and Service Awards uitgereikt.
