Walt Disney Pictures heeft een eerste officiële synopsis afgegeven voor Marvel Studios' Thor: The Dark World. De superheldenfilm van regisseur Alan Taylor en met namen als Chris Hemsworth, Christopher Eccleston, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins en Natalie Portman moet op 8 november 2013 in de Nederlandse bioscoop te zien zijn. Na Thor (2011) en The Avengers (2012) wordt The Dark World het derde avontuur voor "The Mighty Avenger".

Marvel's "Thor: The Dark World" continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel's "Thor" and "Marvel's The Avengers," Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos...but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness.
