Verleden week werd bekend dat het personage Marv moet terugkeren in Sin City 2. Deze werd in het succesvolle en geliefde eerste deel gespeeld door Mickey Rourke. De website Comingsoon.net sprak onlangs met de acteur over zijn mogelijke terugkeer als Marv in de sequel, die begin 2012 opgenomen moet gaan worden.

"It depends." zegt Rourke lachend op de vraag of hij nogmaals in de huid wil kruipen van Marv. "It depends on how bad they want me. You feel me?"

Rourke geeft aan dat hij met name moeite heeft met de flinke aandacht die er is voor de make-up: "I did [like the character], but I'm claustrophobic, so the the hours of makeup -- You have to keep it on for about 13 or 14 hours a day. It's latex and glue and that stuff that gets my eyes all red..."

De opvallende acteur vindt om meerdere redenen make-up niet zo fijn: "I remember I picked up some chick at a bar in Texas one night and invited her to the set to have lunch at the lunch break. I couldn't take the s--t off. F--k it, I never saw her again!"

Hij vergeleek het personage Marv ook met Whiplash uit Iron Man 2 (2010). Over dit personage was Rourke uiteindelijk niet helemaal tevreden, aangezien deze behoorlijk eendimensionaal uitpakte: "I try to find the moments where [the villain is] not that cliched, evil bad guy and it's a big fight. I had it on 'Iron Man' and they won. It was going to work for Marvel and them breaking [Jon] Favreau's balls and wanting just a one-dimensional villain. The performance and all the things that I tried to bring to it end up on the f---ing floor. That can cause you not to care as much. To not to want to put that effort in to try and make it an intelligent bad guy or a bad guy who is justified in what his reasons are."
