Gisteren meldde Twitch dat actrice Rooney Mara de vrouwelijke hoofdrol moet gaan krijgen in de Oldboy remake. Van de website komt nu nog een gerucht, aangezien een van hun bronnen zegt dat de Franse actrice Berenice Marlohe (L'art de séduire, 2011) te zien zal zijn als de Bond Girl in de nog titelloze Bond 23. Dit zou nog best wel eens waar kunnen zijn, aangezien de opnames over zo'n twee weken moeten starten.

Ook is bekend gemaakt dat de openingsscène wordt opgenomen in het Turkse Istanboel. De Turkse minister van Cultuur en Toerisme had namelijk het volgende te melden: "The opening scenes are planned to be filmed in Istanbul, but some other places will also be used outside Istanbul for the film." En "Such is the appeal of the series that many of the locations where Bond films have been filmed in the past have continued to attract Bond fans to visit many years down the line. The fact that the opening scene of the film will be made in Turkey will contribute to Turkish tourism. The ministry has been providing big support to the film sector for five years. We have made a concerted effort in the past five years to support the film sector and our aim continues to be to welcome international film crews to our country for filming,"

Over de opnamelocaties zegt de minister: "There are, however, a number of locations, including the waterside and shores of the Bosporus, in consideration for the 10-15 minutes of the movie that is to be filmed in Turkey."

Producent Michael G. Wilson bevestigt de opnames in Istanboel: "It really just feels like we are coming home." Dit zegt hij aangezien ook From Russia With Love (1963) en The World is Not Enough (1999) deels in de stad met een kleine 20 miljoen inwoners zijn opgenomen.

Bond 23 moet op 1 november 2012 in de Nederlandse bioscoop verschijnen.
