De film komt pas in juni uit, maar tijdens het CinemaCon-evenement in Las Vegas heeft de studio bezoekers de kans gegeven om de film nu al te zien. De eerste reacties zijn inmiddels online verschenen, en wij bij FilmTotaal vatten ze hier voor je samen.
Zelfde regisseur
Kijkers zijn laaiend enthousiast. Veel reacties leggen focus op de overeenkomsten met de originele animatiefilm: zo schrijft X-gebruiker Daniel Baptista dat de film "alles heeft wat het origineel zo speciaal maakt."
Dat is niet zo gek, want de film heeft dezelfde regisseur als die originele film, Dean DeBlois. Gebruiker Anthony Gagliardi prijst hem zelfs door te zeggen dat de film het originele materiaal "naar nieuwe hoogten brengt."
Acteurs
Ook de acteurs krijgen lof. Zo verwijst de recensent van JoBlo naar Gerard Butler en Nico Parker als "uitblinkers." Butler vertolkt zijn originele stemrol uit de animatiefilms, en Parker is te zien als Astrid.
