In The New Empire krijgen we te zien hoe Kong en Godzilla het opnemen tegen een kolossale onontdekte dreiging verborgen in onze wereld. We krijgen meer te zien en horen over de achtergrond van de twee monsters en uiteraard Skull Island.
Ontvangst
Zo te zien wordt dit overtuigend in beeld gebracht. De eerste recensies mogen er namelijk zijn. De meeste filmcritici zijn het erover eens dat het verhaal van de blockbuster misschien wel ietwat mager is, maar dit grotendeels vergeten wordt dankzij alle gigantische actiescènes.
Bekijk hieronder enkele reacties. Het is duidelijk te merken dat het merendeel positief is over de nieuwe aflevering van het MonsterVerse.

#GodzillaXKong is a really great King Kong movie. The human stuff is notably clunky (poor Rebecca Hall saddled with so much dry exposition) but Kong has so many scenes centered on him and I just loved the big guy. Minder
Er zijn echter ook filmcritici die The New Empire ietwat vinden tegenvallen. Zij zeggen dat ze hogere verwachtingen hadden van de blockbuster maar deze niet levert. In de ogen van dit groepje is het geen slechte film, maar is deze wel minder dan zijn voorgangers.
#GodzillaxKongTheNewEmpire wasn't able to hit as hard as the first film. Fight scenes were not as exciting. Human plot lines even worse and uninteresting. Not a terrible movie but a downgrade. Final act was fun though.
