De eerste reacties op Dawn of the Planet of the Apes zijn binnen en liegen er niet om. De film van Matt Reeves, waarin Andy Serkis wederom de rol van de hyperintelligente aap Caesar speelt, is één van de beste films van het jaar. Hieronder zie je een kleine selectie van reacties van filmcritici.
In de film volgen we de steeds groter wordende groep van genetisch geëvolueerde apen die onder leiding staan van Caesar. Zij voelen zich bedreigd bij het aantreffen van een groep mensen die het verwoestende virus van tien jaar eerder schijnen te hebben overleefd. In eerste instantie benaderen ze elkaar vredig, maar het duurt niet lang voordat er een oorlog losbarst waarbij duidelijk moet worden welke van de twee soorten de baas is.
