Dit bericht komt natuurlijk niet helemaal uit de lucht vallen, aangezien Skyfall-regisseur Sam Mendes eerder liet blijken toch terug te willen keren voor de regie van Bond 24. Nu hebben onder meer de producenten Michael G. Wilson en Barbara Broccoli bekend gemaakt dat Mendes definitief terugkeert voor de 24e Bond film. De Britse releasedatum is vastgezet op 23 oktober 2015.

De producenten zei erg blij: "Following the extraordinary success of 'Skyfall,' we're really excited to be working once again with Daniel Craig, Sam Mendes and John Logan.”

Ook Mendes gaf een officiële verklaring: "I am very pleased that by giving me the time I need to honour all my theatre commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to direct 'Bond 24.' I very much look forward to taking up the reins again, and to working with Daniel Craig, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for a second time.”

De 23e Bond film Skyfall was in 2012 een doorslaand succes door $1,1 miljard op te halen aan de wereldwijde bioscoopkassa.
