Dwayne Johnson is een druk mannetje. Niet alleen is hij de komende maanden te zien in Snitch, Fast & Furious 6, Pain and Gain en G.I. Joe: Retaliation, hij heeft ook nog een hele hoop titels waaraan zijn naam is verbonden. Tijdens een interview voor G.I. Joe werd de voormalige worstelaar gevraagd in welke film hij het liefste een rol zou willen spelen. ZIjn antwoord? Star Wars!
Aldus Johnson:
"'Star Wars, And thats not to say that they need it. Obviously theyre doing very well. J.J. [Abrams] is just gonna crush it. Im so excited. Theres a guy, by the way, whos not just a brilliant director, but who honors and respects mythology. Youve seen that with 'Star Trek' and youre going to see that with 'Star Wars.' Im very excited about that."
Dit wil natuurlijk niet zeggen dat Johnson een rol in Star Wars: Episode VII zal bemachtigen, maar het is wel interessant om te vermelden dat Samuel L. Jackson zijn rol als Mace Windu heeft bemachtigd door constant aan te geven dat hij maar wat graag in een Star Wars-film wilde meespelen.
Johnson heeft verder grootste plannen voor de Fast & Furious-franchise. In Fast & Furious 6 speelt hij opnieuw de rol van agent Luke Hobbs en zal deze daarna wederom op zich nemen in Fast 7 alsmede een spinoff (waarover afgelopen week een bericht verscheen op FilmTotaal).
"Thats a character that people have really enjoyed seeing,I think it could work. I think though, too, we need to wait and see how 'Fast Six' does. It looks as though a lot of people are going to like it. I was excited to make it."
Maar er is ook slechts nieuws voor fans van Johnson. Twee DC Comics-verfilmingen, Lobo en [/i]Shazam![/i] staan niet langer op schema voor de acteur. Hij zei hierover het volgende:
"[Lobo] kind of came and went, It came. I thought it was interesting. Then it kind of went away... 'Shazam' was more interesting. And really interesting to me. I would have loved that, especially the idea of playing Black Adam. Again, though, studios start to look at other properties and other superhero properties, what makes sense and what doesnt.
De nieuwe Hercules film van Brett Ratner die volgend jaar zal verschijnen is weliswaar ook gebaseerd op een stripboek, maar Johnson voegde eraan toe dat hij zeker nog een 'echte' superheld zal gaan spelen in de nabije toekomst.
