Het is een goede week voor Frank Miller. Gisteren werd nog bekend gemaakt dat de opnames van Sin City 2 komende zomer zullen beginnen en vandaag is er weer nieuws rondom de 300 sequel. Acteur Rodrigo Santoro blijkt in onderhandelingen te zijn om de rol van Xerxes opnieuw te spelen in 300: Battle of Artemisia.

In eerste instantie leek het erop dat Battle of Artemisia een prequel zou worden, maar als we Santoro moeten geloven is dat niet bepaald het geval.

"It's set at the same time as 300," aldus Santoro, "and the idea is to show a different point of view. While that battle from the first 300 is taking place, there were others going on. It's all this, and then there's an intersection point with the first movie. It goes back and then goes beyond that. There is some explanation of Xerxes' backstory, but it will be very quick."

Santoro’s deelname aan de film is nog niet officieel vastgelegd: ”it’s a long story, so we’ll see what happens.”

Wat ondertussen wel zeker is, is dat Noam Murro de film zal regisseren, en Eva Green, Sullivan Stapleton en Jamie Blackley al getekend hebben voor een rol in de film.
