Producent J.J. Abrams (Lost, Star Trek, Super 8) was onlangs samen met componist Michael Giacchino aan het woord in het Hammer Museum. Hier ging hij kort in op de vorderingen rondom Brad Birds aankomende Mission: Impossible IV – Ghost Protocol. Abrams is lyrisch over de IMAX opnames en over regisseur Bird, die bezig is met zijn allereerste live-action film.

Abrams zei het volgende:

It’s going great. Brad Bird directed an incredibly fun movie. To watch him do his first live-action movie is kind of surreal because you see these moments that are really funny, and specific and about character — and you think, “WOW, that’s so Brad Bird”… but then you think, “God, I’ve never seen a Brad Bird live action movie, ever.” So its a weird thing to see stuff that feels… He’s a great filmmaker who just happens to have been using the tools of animation. It’s going great. And the IMAX footage in particular is looking INSANE.

Naar verwachting verschijnt de eerste trailer van M:I 4 deze maand om op 16 december 2011 in de States in première te gaan. In de actiefilm zijn de hoofdrollen voor Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Maggie Q, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames en Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
