Afgelopen weekend kwamen we met het nieuws dat Inception acteur Joseph Gordon-Levitt de rol van Alberto Falcone, de zoon van Carmine Falcone uit Batman Begins (2005), speelt in The Dark Knight Rises van regisseur Christopher Nolan. Dit nieuws dat als eerste werd gebracht door Variety is echter ontkracht door Entertainment Weekly Online:

“Joseph Gordon-Levitt, long-rumored to be joining his ‘Inception’ brethren in ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ will appear in director Christopher Nolan’s third Batman film. But a source close to the situation says that recent reports that Gordon-Levitt will play Alberto Falcone (a.k.a. the Holiday Killer) – the son of former mob kingpin, Carmine Falcone (Tom Wilkinson) – are incorrect. So, Batman fans: Begin the re-speculation now!”

Ondertussen heeft Variety journalist Jeff Sneider via Twitter gereageerd op bovenstaande bewering: "Let me stress that NO ONE with the authority to do so has CONFIRMED this info. Not WB, not reps and certainly not Nolan or other producers." Onduidelijk alom. Het wachten blijft nog even op de officiële bevestiging, tot dan komt Gordon-Levitt nog steeds in aanmerking voor de rollen als The Riddler, Deadshot, Alberto Falcone, Robin of mogelijk Calendar Man.

Van de actrices Marion Cotillard (Public Enemies) en Juno Temple (Cracks) is nog steeds onbekend of ze daadwerkelijk een rol spelen in de derde Batman film van Nolan. Ze zijn wel in gesprek met de regisseur. Op dit moment leggen de Nolan broers de laatste hand aan het script om binnenkort te starten met de opnames. Release: 19 juli 2012.
