WGA bekroont Inception en The Social Network

Gaan Christopher Nolan en Aaron Sorkin straks ook met de Oscars aan de haal?

De films Inception en The Social Network hebben zaterdag de belangrijkste prijzen gewonnen op de uitreiking van de Writers Guild Awards. Scenarioschrijvers Christopher Nolan en Aaron Sorkin werden door de Writers Guild of America (WGA) bekroond met resp. de prijs voor beste originele scenario en beste bewerkte scenario. The Social Network is gebaseerd op het boek "The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, a Tale of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal" van de Amerikaan Ben Mezrich.

De Writers Guild Awards zijn doorgaans een goede graadmeter voor de Oscars. Mogelijk gaan Nolan en Sorkin eind deze maand ook met de Academy Awards voor beste originele en beste bewerkte scenario aan de haal. Nolan neemt het op tegen o.a. David Seidler (The King's Speech), voor Sorkin worden de Coen Brothers (True Grit) geduchte tegenstanders.
