Je zou zeggen dat Michael Bay staat te springen om de volgende Transformers film in 3-D uit te brengen. Verrassend genoeg staat de bekritiseerde actie-regisseur niet te positief tegenover de enorme 3D hype die op dit moment Hollywood in zijn greep heeft. Hij is volgens Deadline Hollywood sceptisch tegenover de technologie, zeker als het gaat over 'upconversion' van 2D naar 3D, zoals dat is gebeurd bij films als Alice in Wonderland en Clash of the Titans.

Bay: "I shoot complicated stuff, I put real elements into action scenes and honestly, I am not sold right now on the conversion process... Right now, it looks like fake 3D, with layers that are very apparent... People can say whatever they want about my movies, but they are technically precise, and if this isn't going to be excellent, I don't want to do it and it is my choice."

Klaarblijkelijk heeft Bay al wel getest met 3D conversie dan wel 3D camera's. Rond 1 juli 2011 kunnen we zien of hij er dan nog zo over denkt.
