The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes komt opnieuw van regisseur Francis Lawrence en de hoofdrollen zijn voor Tom Blyth (Billy the Kid) en Rachel Zegler (Snow White). De film speelt zich 64 jaar voor de eerdere films af.
"Beste Hunger Games-film"
Met name Blyth, die de 18-jarige Coriolanus Snow speelt, en ook andere acteurs worden geprezen voor hun aandelen. Zegler speelt Lucy Gray Baird en we zien Viola Davis als Head Gamemaker Volumnia Gaul, Peter Dinklage als Casca Highbottom, Jason Schwartzman als Lucretius "Lucky" Flickerman, Hunter Schafer als Tigris Snow en Josh Andrés Rivera als Sejanus Plinth.
Verder lezen we dat de prequel de "originele franchise verrijkt" en uiteraard valt het woord "meesterwerk". Anderen noemen het "de beste Hunger Games-film tot op heden".
