De avonturenfilm kende een ruw productieproces en is al meerdere jaren in de maak. Buiten alle juridische problemen en de moeizame productie gooide het coronavirus extra roet in het eten, ervoor zorgende dat de release meermaals verschoven moest worden.
Echter, na jaren aan uitstel mocht Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves dan eindelijk vroegtijdig in première gaan tijdens het South by Southwest 2023 van afgelopen nacht.
Eerste reacties
Laat je maar niet afleiden of beïnvloeden door de trailer, want de eerste reacties zijn buiten wat milde punten van kritiek uiterst positief. Het lijkt een uiterst vermakelijke blockbuster te gaan worden om de lente mee in te luiden. Er worden zelfs vergelijkingen gemaakt met de Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) van James Gunn.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves emulates the energy of Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers with a chaotic story.

Alle positieve reacties zouden ook geen verrassing moeten zijn. De film heeft een ware sterrencast tot zijn beschikking, welke bestaat uit niemand minder dan Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Sophia Lillis, Justice Smith en Hugh Grant.
Vanaf aankomende 30 maart zal Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves te zien zijn in de Nederlandse bioscopen. Bij verschillende bioscopen is de kaartverkoop al begonnen.
