Regisseur Rodriguez heeft bekendgemaakt dat hij toch zal gaan werken aan A Princess of Mars. Er waren onlangs problemen ontstaan omdat hij uit de Directors Guild of America was gestapt, terwijl filmmaatschappij Paramount verplicht is om een aan de DGA gelieerde regisseur aan te stellen.

[eng]"I can still do that movie, because I was assigned to it before I left the DGA. I'll occupy that island of misfit directors like Quentin Tarantino and George Lucas. (Laughs) It's actually quite nice here".[/eng]

De Amerikaan houdt zich momenteel echter eerst nog bezig met Sin City, een verfilming van de gelijknamige comics van Frank Miller, en vertelde in een gesprek met Entertainment Weekly iets over de rol die Bruce Willis zal gaan spelen:

Naast Bruce Willis heeft Rodriguez voor Sin City een zeer imposante lijst acteurs bijeen weten te krijgen: Steve Buscemi, Benicio Del Toro, Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Douglas, Mickey Rourke, Brittany Murphy, Christopher Walken, Bruce Willis en Elijah Wood.
