Gunnar Hansen, de man die de iconische Leatherface speelde in Tobe Hoopers The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), sprak onlangs tijdens een evenement in Nova Scotia. Het ging over The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, de nieuwe film uit de reeks van John Luessenhop waarin Hansen overigens ook weer een rolletje zal gaan spelen.
Hansen verklapte onder meer hoe de film zal gaan beginnen:
"The opening of the movie is the last scene of the original movie and so it starts right at the beginning. In fact, they're using some of the footage of Leatherface, of me, dancing, at the beginning. They're using that footage as the opening shot, I think. I read the script, it looks pretty good. I can say that because I'm extremely critical of the sequels and the remakes. This one, you know, is not what I would have written, but I didn't write it."
De makers doen dus net alsof alle bestaande sequels nooit gemaakt zijn. Chainsaw 3D negeert de laatste twee reboots (en eigenlijk ook alle sequels) en gaat door waar het origineel gebleven was. Het verhaal volgt Heather, die samen met haar vrienden naar Texas reist om een erfenis op te halen. Jammer genoeg krijgt ze Leatherface erbij.
Hoofdrollen zijn er voor Alexandra Daddario, Tania Raymonde, Sue Rock, Scott Eastwood, Bill Moseley, Trey Songz, Keram Malicki-Sanchez, Shaun Sipos, Thom Barry, Paul Rae en Richard Riehle. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D draait vanaf 5 oktober 2012 in de bioscopen.
